Bible Verse: Luke 8:16

“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under his bed. Instead he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.”

When a man or woman meets Jesus and is saved, they are lit up inside. They becomes a light and a lamp for others to find their way.

There are family members lost in conflict and materialism who need a lamp to see their true spiritual condition. They need a light to find their way to God.

That lamp and light is you. The light of the Word of the Gospel, the message of the Cross that Jesus saves all who turn to Him. People need to hear this message.

All you need to do is tell them what Jesus has done for you and let the changes in your life be observed by all. That is what it means to be a lamp and a light.

But what is the point of being such a light if it is hidden? It is a foolish thing to do to hide a light under the bed. It makes no sense.

And that is exactly the point Jesus makes when he talks about these things. To have possession of the truth, a true experience of the Grace of Christ is meant to mark us out amongst others as people who have found another way to live, an alternative to the empty lifestyles of our families and friends.

But if you do not open your mouth and tell them, how will they ever know?

You must tell them!

Do not fear them, never should you fear rejection.

As you hear more of the Gospel and learn more, embrace more and share more, more understanding, joy and success in speaking to others becomes yours.

But as you keep quiet and refuse to say anything, eventually the very things that once set you alight will grow dim and die.

Who are the people whose light eventually dies? They are people who were not really saved even though they originally responded with joy.

Who are those who increase more and more? They are those who let the blessings they received from Christ overflow to others in spite of rejection and misunderstanding. With joy they suffer for Christ. These are the saved. These are the ones who go in peace. The ones who possess Shalom – the peace and wholeness that comes from God.

Prayer:- Dear Lord, Give me strength to shine for you every day, in all circumstances and with all people. Amen.
